Much more than a motorway stop, this is a dog-walkers' delight and popular for a dog day out in the Bristol area.
Easy to reach from either Junction 18 or 19 of the M5, this is a piece of canine heaven, through Forestry Commission woods with clear paths and easy to follow signed routes.
In the winter months especially this is a fine place for a dog walk, and there's plenty of scamper space for dogs to be off-lead in fields with no livestock.
Relaxing homely bar area with sofas and a fabulous view over the Severn estuary and Wales. Can get crowded at busy travel times.
The pub is deceptive - bigger inside than you'd think from the car park, and it's strong on food too. The walk is an easy one to find, and dogs get a good off-lead run.
The riverside path here is some 2.5m wide with plenty of dog romping space and an abundance of wildlife. This is probably as close as it gets to Wind in the Willows land, a magical walk.

Lovely flat walk along a wide, leafy National Trust woodland trail to the Wellington Monument. Great views and perfect for an off lead walk in all weather.
A gentle stroll to an obelisk celebrating the Duke of Wellington and woodland trails. Perfect for dogs and families.
A large, friendly village pub backing onto the Grand Western Canal. Absolutely great for dogs, kids and walkers.
This is a dog walk that does exactly what it says on the tin: one path that winds through an avenue of rhododendron bushes, there and back. And the dog-friendly pub is a treat.
