We thought that this would be a great escape from crowded beaches in high season. In the event, the beaches were deserted, and this enormous reservoir in the centre of the island equally so.
Join the 124 mile Anglesey coastal path for a while - a definite cobweb remover! The best walking is in the direction of the lighthouse where there's a short circular route.
Cemaes has two beaches, and dogs are allowed on the westerly beach all year round. Most of the sand is on the other beach - but the west beach is great for rock pooling.
A four centuries old inn where dogs are welcome and it's on the Sandstone Trail for a good dog walk. Watch out for vicious speed bumps on the approach road.
