Youlgreave dog walk and dog-friendly pub, Derbyshire
PremiumDescription
A glorious 2-mile there-and-back short walk beside a sparkling river. It's dogs delight for swimming, or just a paw-wash at the end to clean the dog off in muddy weather.

This walk works best in winter when the cows are safely tucked up in their barns!

Green 26 PointsThis was a good walk and our dog loved the river a lot. We found it difficult to find Mawston Lane but did eventually. The down side was the number of cows and bulls along the river and in a most of the fields. Our dog had no problem getting up the metal steps.

This is a good walk with a pleasant variety of undemanding path and filds walking. It is easy to go wrong from the start ("at the bridge in Mawstone Lane") because there are several potential options. Begin from grid reference 214640 and walk West (upstream). Towards the end of the walk it would be useful to know that your direction is nearly always North-East, so having a compass or GPS could be helpful, even on such a short walk. Finally, the parking is not campervan-friendly, as the car park (at the far West end of the village) has a 2m height restriction.
