Whitwell dog walk near Worksop, Derbyshire
Description
If solitude and seclusion is what you and the dog need, then this woodland has it in abundance - on a busy Bank Holiday we didn't see or hear a soul. I found the isolation slightly creepy, maybe because I'd never been here before. Would suggest it's better for a couple of people or more plus dog.

Walk
The entrance to the woods is at the far end of the lay-by, on the left. There are three marked trails, and it's just as nice to strike out on your own. Jem and I turned left and walked for a mile or so under a tree canopy that was so dense that there is virtually no undergrowth, and it felt chilly too. For dogs it's great, all off-lead with plenty of exciting smells to investigate, and lots of little wild-life tracks.
