Portheras Cove - not so dog-friendly beach, Cornwall
Description
Portheras Cove is a delightful little beach near Pendeen. There's a problem though - once you've been stung for parking, and clambered down the cliff path to reach the beach you'll see two signs. The first warns that shoes must be worn on the beach as there are sharp metal shards hidden in the sand. The second sign announces that the stream that bubbles alongside the path is known to be contaminated with industrial toxins.
This beach is listed by the Cornwall tourist office as dog friendly. We disagree. If anyone local is able to update this, that would be really helpful.
