Northampton Hill Fort dog walk, Northamptonshire
Description
This ancient hill is an ideal place for dogs to let off steam. And while the pooch does the doggy stuff, why not take a look at the site of an Iron Age hill fort on the top of the hill? There's lots of history here, not just Celts and Romans, but also a railway museum and ironstone railway system.

Walk
Walk to the end of the car park to follow the clear track over the gated level crossing and into the country park. There are clear, wide muddy tracks through the woodland with plenty of running space for dogs. Lots of dogs clearly enjoy a regular walk here, and we found a very sociable group of them on the right hand side after the level crossing. Expect a warm welcome and lively conversation from the locals!

This is the perfect place to stop with the dog. Not far from M1 and easy to find with plenty of free parking. Dogs can have a run off lead and there is a play area if travelling with children.
The highlight for us was the Drovers Return cafe where you can get very reasonably priced drinks and snacks.
We will definitely visit again.

Great spot and cafe
This is a great area for dogs who want to run and run. There is the Drovers Return in the car park which is well worth a visit. Big mugs of steaming hot tea and delicious toasties (made like you make at home not bought off a shelf and warmed up).
