Peaceful and varied walk for off lead enjoyment
We spend many a happy hour at Ratby Burroughs! It’s possible to park near the Plough, and walk along the track that leads to Thornton and the Ivanhoe Trail. You’d need your dogs on lead here, but there are many footpath signs that take you away from the track. We tend to park in the car park, which is about a half mile along this track. From there, you can wander for ages through fields and woodland. Lots of grasses for snuffling in. If you’re super fit, you can even follow the track on foot as far as Thornton reservoir, around the reservoir , and back again but bear in mind there is a stretch of road , about a quarter of a mile, with no pavement between the end of the track and the start of the Thornton reservoir circuit. We’ve not tried the pub yet.
