Walk
Cuerden Valley Park is hugely popular with dog walkers, and the bright-eyed, waggy tailed dogs Jem met made it clear that this is a piece of canine heaven. The main path from the car park is gravelled, so this is a good option for wet days if the wellies have been forgotten. Canine waterbabies will appreciate a swim in the small, clean River Lostock which runs to the left of a grass path to the left of the main gravel track. The gravel track is shared with cyclists, so the grass path is a good option if you want to avoid the bikes. To reach the visitor centre, follow the gravel track to a point where it crosses the river, and the visitor centre is signed.

Green 24 PointsFrom the Wigan road car park it takes a good 10 minutes to get to the main area of the park but is well worth it. We spent about 1 and a half hours here but that included a stop in the coffee shop for tea and cake. Marley and Daisy were very happy with plenty of wooded areas to sniff and ponds and steams to paddle and swim in. Everyone we met was very friendly both on the walk and in the Sue Ryder coffee shop both the tea and coffee cake was delicious and would recommend a welcome refreshment break.

Great place for a stop off
We travelled from East Sussex to the Lake District and stopped here both ways. Very quick and easy to get to from the motorway parking is payable by contactless payment or the Ringo App which we found was very common in the Lakes.
Lovely park safe for off lead walking. The only disappointment for us was unfortunately the cafe had suffered a fire so the all important WCs weren’t open - check before you travel if open. Otherwise a stop thanks for the recommendation
