Most visitors to the beach will take the obvious path up onto the cliffs on the right hand side of the beach (looking at the sea). We think that a better dog walk goes the other way, and gives dogs plenty of soft springy grass between their paws and less exposure to dangerous cliff edges.   Starting from just in front of The Pentre pub, take the lane rising uphill and behind the public conveniences. You're walking inland and away from the sea. Go around a sharp bend, pass a few houses and then take a non-vehicular track passing in front of a row of cottages. This grassy track is one of those magic places in Wales. The hedgerow is rich with wildflowers and humming insects, and dogs can go wild with the sniffing. Follow the track as it winds around field boundaries and then reaches a farm. For a short (40 minute) walk this is a good place to turn around.
