Ballinspittle dog walk, RoI
PremiumDescription
Perfect dog walking, combined with some interesting bits of local history and easy to follow trails.
The north part of the wood is on high ground overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it was a popular place to view the exact spot where the Lusitania sank on 7 May 1915. And an ancient fort marks the site where the Vikings were first defeated in a pitch battle by the Munster men in AD 910. It's just outside the forest, and you can see the outline of the triple walls from the high ground.
