Allestree local dog walks, Derbyshire
Description
Woodland walking for dogs, and a cheerful community of dog walkers too.
Details
GPS coords for car park: 52.9630, -1.4828 There are two different entrances to the park, the main entrance leads to a large car park by Allestree Hall where facilities are shared with the Golf Club. Refreshments are available at the hall on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday lunchtimes between 11am and 3pm. The entrance from Woodlands Road tends to attract the dog walkers. There's free parking and picnic tables but no other facilities. Paths can be soggy after prolonged rain, and very difficult for wheelchairs and buggies.
Walk
There are a number of walk options here, and it really depends where you are starting from. We often park at the Woodlands entrance, and follow the very clear path into the woodland and then meander in a generally circular orbit for an hour or so inside the 'Big Wood'. It's a great place for hide and seek - a collie favourite!
