A69 Roman Garrison Town - dog-friendly attraction, Northumberland
PremiumDescription
At one time this was the northernmost town in the Roman Empire and hugely important. Today it's a breath of fresh air after the crowds in nearby Corbridge and well worth a visit. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Great stop for history buffs
We visiting on our way from Sunderland to Stirling. This wasn’t a long stop but something we wanted to explore as we have English Heritage memberships. I learned all about the Corbridge hoard which was so interesting. Hubble was able to walk around the remains of the Roman town with one of us whilst the other spent time in the museum (Hubs is not comfortable in crowds and prefers to be outside so we took turns). Everyone we met was very friendly and seemed to love dogs.
