I'm guessing that the town would have been a sort of stagecoach hub in days of old, and this is the inn that outlasted the competition. It reminded me of some of the inns on the A1 where Dickens is said to have been a frequent visitor. Expect a good welcome, hearty warming fresh food and plenty of doggie space.
