A38 dog-friendly pub and river walk near Culmstock, Devon
PremiumDescription
Delightful country inn with a dog-walk from the door. We stopped for lunch and were enormously tempted to stay for much longer and see more of the area!

Pink 177 PointsLovely pub and walk!
Had already been for a long walk at Wellington memorial but stopped here for a drink.
Big car park, garden area and lovely pub. Didn’t have food but great menu and it was really popular.
The walk starts opposite the pub, great walk to take the dogs, grass area by the river and easy access for kids and dogs to play in it.
Walked along the pathway along the river, there is an in/out gate that would prevent pushchair or wheelchairs passed the initial area but lovely walk with the dogs.
Would be a muddy walk in wet weather though.

Great location
I can’t tell you about the walk as my elderly Jack Russell ’downed tools’ near the path entrance (she’d already had one walk), but the pub is really nice, next to a bridge across the River Culm. Good lager for £4.00 a pint and a rather upmarket menu (Rabbit liver with black truffle etc). To be fair they also cover the old standards (burgers and fish n chips). So I had a pint and then we napped in the sun to the sound of the rushing water. What’s not to like?
So not much of a walk review, more a beer and kip review. I’m sure the walk is fine though. Enjoy!
