A9 dog-friendly beach at Dornoch, Scotland
What a wonderful beach!
This must be one of the best beaches in the world! Miles of sand and, when the weather is kind, gentle waves for dogs to play in. There is a car park near the beach and a children's playground too. Or you can walk from the town of Dornoch.
Loch Lomond dog walk at Balmaha, Scotland
A beautiful place to stop and stretch your legs
There are plenty of picnicking places here and a children's play area. There is the hard core walk up the hill or more gentle walking in the woods and around the loch shore with some places for dogs to play.
It's not a long walk though but views are gorgeous.
M1 Junction 15 Forest dog walks, Northamptonshire
A great place for a walk and a meal just off the M1
We love stopping in Salcey Forest as we drive north on the M1. The cafe serves delicious breakfasts and cakes.
The 5 mile walk through the forest sets you and your four legged friend up for the rest of the journey.
It can be very busy at weekends and in holidays.
A1M Junction 44 dog-friendly pub and dog walk, West Yorkshire
Friendly pub and varied walk
The staff in the pub are extremely friendly and the pub lovely. However, watch out for the limited opening hours and food service in the winter months.
The walk itself is through varied terrain but it feels as though there is a lot of road walking.
The Courtyard cafe in Lotherton Hall is a welcome stop with delicious cakes and coffee.
Roecliffe River Walk with the dog, North Yorkshire
Really enjoyed this stop off. Close to motorway and easy to find. Roecliffe is a delightful village and the pub was charming- dog friendly with excellent food and helpful staff.
Although it was a there and back walk it was beautiful: lovely countryside and the river for the dog to splash in.
A1 Junction 17 dog-friendly pub and dog walk, Northamptonshire
A pleasant enough there and back walk to stretch the legs and near to the A1M. Useful that the services are so near as we were too early to use the pub facilities..
Fotheringhay village was charming and the Castle history interesting although there's nothing left of it now.
I found it very difficult getting my satnav to recognise the postcode which was frustrating.
M6 Junction 13 dog walk with refreshments, Staffordshire
This was a lovely canal side walk with lots to see. We turned left and got to bridge 90 and back to the pub in 50 minutes. We then had a refreshing drink at the pub and our dog sat with us outside. Really easy to get back onto the motorway.

A beautiful walk. One of our favourites
A gentle walk to a lovely waterfall. So peaceful. You can extend it by leaving at the top of the waterfall and heading in to The Backies and across and down the hill to Dunrobin Railway Station and across the A9 to the castle grounds, down to the beach and back to the car park.
