River Severn Country Park, Shropshire
14 May 2011
Walked the easy trail around the lake edge (couple of stiles). Fantastic location, beautiful scenery.
If going on a sunny bank holiday weekend, get here early as small, limited parking area and can be popular with locals in the know.
Has toilets and lots of nice spots for a picnic.
Worth noting - £3 entry toll for cars to the forest, but parking is included and there is also a toilet and picnic areas with benches.
Also, dogs not permitted on the beach and Llanddwyn Island May-September.

Took turning from A442 to Hampton Loade (Brown Sign for Country Park, but not the main entrance to park). National Trust Car park next to River Severn (reasonable charges apply). Signposts for walks in all directions along the river.
Pubs with outdoor seating on both sides of the river with a ferry between the two banks. Not sure if dog friendly or not.
Great place to stop off on our long journey and let the doggies stretch their legs.
