About StephenRD
Brindley the American Cocker Spaniel is "my" dog, but we also have three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels - Hetty, Lottie and Katie.
Brindley is a running dog, the Cavaliers have been active in the show ring, particularly in rally obedience, and dabble in obedience and in heelwork-to-music. But mostly just part of the family.

M6 Junction 1 nature reserve dog walk, Warwickshire
Great spot
The potholes on the way into the car park are severe, but that apart this is a great spot. Lots of space in the car park on a Sunday afternoon. Easy to get to off the M6.
Anywhere that has a "dog exercise field" is a good place, but we went quickly through that and then along the former line of the Oxford Canal along the ridge-and-furrow grassland, and then into a bit of woodland, and out into more fields the other side. Some cattle were grazing the further fields, but they didn't cause us any issues.

An amazing gem
A wonderful find - not somewhere I would ever likely have gone from the motorway, but a relatively short diversion and particularly if you've time for a proper walk, then well worth it.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon of a bank holiday weekend, there was still sufficient car parking space - probably better to pass the first car park and head down the hill.
Lots and lots of walking options on both sides of the river and up to the derelict canal. If planning a circular route, watch out that some maps show a bridge near the easternmost bend of the river - the bridge has been removed, but there is another 500m further south.

Lots of options
Sign into car park appears a little abruptly so watch out for it.
A lovely spot. A wide variety of walk options available, with a mixture of well surfaced paths and more natural paths with accompanying puddles and mud. Quite a few cars in the car park but we saw hardly anyone in the woods.

Popular local spot
The car park is small and was full on a Sunday morning, but there is space on the road for a few cars - though that space was seeing good use too.
We walked around Spud Wood, which is a pleasant spot - though the footing was a bit soft in early September, so could be quite muddy in the winter and it clearly gets a good deal of use from local dog walkers of whom we saw quite a few. Quite a few paths so scope for some variety of route. We went east, looped around along the southern boundary through a mixture of grass paths and earth in the woods.
We then went out onto the road at the western end and returned along the canal towpath which has firmer footing than the wood.
