20km of sheer doggie delight Wells next the Sea, Norfolk
Holkham beach and Holkham Hall
You can access the enormous beach from the car park at Lady Anne's drive but you have to pay for parking. Dogs need to be on leads as it gets busy in the summer, but once you are on the beach there are areas where you can let your dog off lead, except in the nesting season. You can also park within the grounds of Holkham Hall for £5 and walk the dog from there. There is an adventure playground there. The Victoria is certainly dog friendly, but a bit expensive. There is a cafe at the end of Lady Anne's Drive, which is cheaper.
A149 A walk on the Marshes and a dog-friendly pub with B&B rooms near Wells, Norfolk
Always a great walk
We have been here a few times and it is never very busy. If you like salt marshes and remote walks, this is the area for you! The pub is also good and dog friendly.
Marshy nature reserve dog walks, Norfolk
Several areas near here where you can walk dogs
There are two car parks, the one nearer to Lynn is bigger. You can walk with a dog on a lead past the burial mounds and round towards Grimston Warren, or across the heathland towards the woods (but not during the nesting season). Great for bird watching, or for fungi in the Autumn.
Dog-friendly pub with B&B and forest dog walks, Norfolk
Good traditional pub food and dog friendly in the bar.
We visited on the way from the A11 to Swaffham and were not disappointed. Near Lynford Arboretum if you need a nice walk with plenty of trees to see!
A10 dog-friendly refreshment and dog walk, Hertfordshire
Lovely walk but the pub was not open
We took our grand-daughter and unfortunately had not booked lunch, and were refused entry to the pub on a weekday lunchtime! We nevertheless had a lovely walk and enjoyed exploring the village and especially the "Three bears' houses"!
M11 Junction 8 dog walk in the forest, Essex
Great wooded area for dogs
The National Trust are now allowing you to turn up without booking and the cafe was open on a Monday (when many other places are not).
Always a pleasure to walk the dogs here. Children love the shell house and the ducks and swans on the water.
Brandon Country Park dog walks, Suffolk
Great for children
We meet up with family here and the playground is great. There are plenty of dog walks around the area, of different lengths, and a lovely walled garden (no dogs allowed). The cafe has seating outside where dogs are allowed.
Dog and family-friendly pub near Stansted, Essex
Ploughed up footpath
Thankyou for recommending this pub, but it is still not open Mondays and Tuesdays. The walk was just the right length, but we were shocked to find that the public footpath back from the lane had been ploughed up and broad beans were growing in the field. Fortunately, it was not too muddy with all the dry weather! We shall report the ploughed up footpath to the council.
A gentle dog walk by the River Slea, Lincolnshire
Much needed stop en route to Norfolk
We would not have found this without your recommendation, so thank you. It is a little way off the A17, but worth the detour to find a shaded path through woods, which is safe for dogs. Interesting view of the ruined priory as well.
Holmedale Valley dog walk and dog-friendly pub, North Yorkshire
Beautiful setting and plenty of walks around the village
Thankyou for this recommendation. A good stop before Scotch corner. The pub is not open at lunch time except on Sunday.
Wetherby Triangle dog walk, West Yorkshire
Great walk in wet weather
Thankyou for this information, we would never have found this on our own! The car park was free, the path was not muddy and we met another dog walker who was happy to let her puppy play with our puppy - great to tire him out for the onward journey. The track is in a railway cutting, so they are unlikely to run away.
Interesting church and chapel ruins, Millennium woods
A short dog walk, rather muddy in January, but reached an enclosed woodland area, which would have been safe for a well behaved dog to be let off the lead.
Church with medieval bench ends and unspoilt rood screens.
Chapel ruins (English Heritage, no charge).
We did not try the pub.
