A9 dog-friendly beach at Dornoch, Scotland
Fantastic beach with long Sandy stretch
Fabulous beach for doggies. Miles of Sandy beach wide and beautiful. There is a car park too and a stall selling burgers and coffee etc. Also has nice clean toilets near the car park. And a lovely little play park for small children. Highly recommend!
M74 Junction 5 dog walk near Motherwell, Scotland
Not a safe place to walk esp with kids
I dropped my husband and teenage kids with the dog to go for a walk mid afternoon whilst I took the car to charge it up for the next leg of our journey south. He called me after 10 mins to come back. There were a lot of people especially around the theme park but many very drunk and some scoring drugs in the bushes. The lake was not pleasant enough for the dog to swim (many weeds and algae) and our doggie loves to swim every day come rain or shine. There’s nowhere to get a nice drink or bite to eat and the atmosphere is quite rough. Not a pleasant experience at all. We have stopped at lots of other walks recommended but won’t be stopping here again. Sorry!

I just love Constantine Bay
This is just the most perfect beach for walking the dogs. A huge expanse of sandy beach with the coastal path for walking the dogs too over to Treyarnon Bay to the South or Boobies beach to the North. It is extremely well set up. When the sun shines it does get lots of people with kids but there’s lifeguards too who create the narrow boundaries outside of the riptides for swimming leaving the rest of the area for dog splashing. My dogs had so much fun in and out of the water!
There are just a very few spaces so limited parking at the beach and at the top of the approach road, but a bright young man with a field on the approach charges £6 for parking. It’s £6 for the first hour and the rest of the day is free (closes 7pm). There are toilets, a cafe that only takes cash, bins too. There’s a coffee cart and delicious Kelly’s ice cream too. It’s really really lovely and we try to always come here when I’m North Cornwall. It’s not far from Padstow, Newquay or Wadebridge and close to St Merryn.
