M1 Junction 15 Forest dog walks, Northamptonshire
A lovely place for a good walk with the dogs!
A lovely place for a good walk with the dogs! There is a sign-posted 5 mile loop, that crosses the main road in two places or a number of other shorter loops through the woods. The cafe is lovely - somewhere we frequently stop for coffee and cake. It does get very busy on sunny days at the weekend.

A lovely walk with a bit of something for everyone
A lovely walk with a bit of something for everyone. You can go ‘out-and-back’ along the canal or do a loop through Spud Wood. A lovely quiet spot with friendly locals and plenty of space for the dogs to have a good, off-lead leg stretcher!

Lots of space to run
Another one of our regular stops. We always walk through the picnic area (bear right) and down the steps on the left, towards the river bank. We then go through the gate to our left and walk along the river bank, keeping the river on our right. We have stopped here 3 times and only once was there sheep in one of the fields. Lots of space to run and plenty of small ‘beaches’ along the river for the dogs to paddle. It is an ‘out-and-back’ walk so you can make it as long or as short as you like.

M6 Jct 15
One of our regular stopping places when travelling between Northamptonshire and Scotland. A lovely bit of woodland with lots for the dogs to explore. We have never actually managed to find the route markers but it is easy enough to navigate your way around a short loop. Free parking and a bit of open space for a picnic lunch too.

Perfect stop-off!!
What a brilliant place to stop! I don’t think it would be possible to find a better place to stop for a walk, so close to the motorway! Easy to find and within 5 mins you’re on safe and open paths with plenty of space for the dogs to have a good off-lead run! We’ll definitely stop here again!

Brilliant circular walk
A brilliant circular walk around Castle Loch on the edge of Lochmaben. You can park at the castle ruins or in the bowling club car park. An easy to follow, well sign-posted walk around the Loch. There are a few sections of the walk where you will need to put your dog on the lead (one quiet road section and one short section on the pavement, next to a busy road) but the dogs can enjoy an off-lead run for the majority of the walk. Great for birdwatchers too and a magical little woodland section that the children will love!
