Pastoral country park dog walk, Berkshire
A good M4 stop over
A choice of cafes including dog friendly spaces. A chance to stretch your legs and your dogs. Far better than a motorway service station.
Apparently the far side of the lake gets muddy after rain, so wellingtons are probably a good idea if you're going for a longer walk.
There's even a dog wash although not sure ours would put up with it
M2 Junction 4 Country park dog walk and cafe, Kent
A good alternative to motorway services
We travel the M4 to Wales a couple of time a year. In future we will be stopping here. There is a cafe near the main car park and a smaller one further along the lakeside walk. It is dog friendly but would keep your dog on the lead near the lake due to the anglers.
There is a hard track between the two cafes for a shorter walk. If going for a longer walk further around the site, I would recommend wellies.

One of our favourite beaches
Penbryn is one of our favourite beaches. There is ample parking, with toilets and the Plwmp Tart cafe. It is s short-ish walk down to the beach. it is a tarmacked road so wouldn't recommend flights-flops.
The beach is lovely and even when busy it is easy enough to find a space. Dogs are allowed on all of the beach from 1st Oct.
In summer they are restricted to the left hand side, which means crossing the stream that runs into the sea. There is no bridge so bring wellies or be prepared to have wet feet.
Our dog loves this beach. Plenty of space to chase her ball.
NB There are no dog bins so you are expected to take it with you!
Also the cafe closes fairly early around 4pm most of the year and isn't always open mid-week out of season.
