For a dog walk there's a choice of a walk on the beach, a section of a long-distance footpath or just time in the water with the dog.
We set off from our pub base in Wells to find the sea and walked to Holkham Estate and back across the endless sands and dunes.
A fabulous old pub where you might feel inspired to start wearing a blue and white Breton top and whistle a quiet hornpipe. Dogs welcome, even salty ones.
Wild winds and sideways rain was the story here. And still the beach was good for a walk, and the very dog-cafe came up with welcome hot food and soup. It must be amazing in sunshine!
Calling all Sherlock Holmes fans with dogs. The Adventures of the Dancing Men was written here, and Conan Doyle was a regular visitor. They even have a blue plaque on the pub wall.
You can either start this dog walk from the dog-friendly pub, or drive down to a car park by the beach.

Very dog-friendly B&B and pub just off the A149 and close to Norfolk's massive sandy beaches. The building dates back to the 15th century in part, when it was a farmhouse.
