Dog walk and dog-friendly pub just off the A1, Lincolnshire
One of those quaint 'English' dog walks, with a fabulous pub, cricket pitch and strolling route on springy grass through lush countryside.

We love stopping at this dog-friendly pub near Colsterworth as a respite from the A1. The farm shop is great for stocking up on self-catering essentials too.
A big open walk on the River Trent plain, and a grand opportunity for doggie socialising. It's popular with local dog-walkers and there's no chance of getting lost.
A choice of dog walks here, including one with full wheelchair access along the Viking Way. The signage is very good and if you're staying nearby it's worth exploring the different routes.
This historic village is a fantastic place for dogs, and kids of all ages from 4 to 94. The dunes and beach behind the massive castle are wide and spacious enough for the most energetic hound.
A short with the dog to see the site of the castle where Mary Queen of Scots lost her head. It seems a forlorn grassy lump these days but the castle was significant some 400 years ago.
A bustling tourist centre, with a fine dog walk and some dog-friendly pubs. Be prepared for quite a long stop here if you have Harry Potter fans on board or gardening enthusiasts.
A small, warm and welcoming local pub with stone flagstones and roaring fires. After a day of walking in horizontal February sleet a visit here was the highlight of the day!
I love this coastal village. Dogs are welcome in the pub, kippers from the smoke house are just wonderful, and dogs are allowed on the beach.
Enjoy lunch in a very old coaching inn where Dickens used to spin yarns by the fireplace and then walk it off on a riverside path with lots of doggy romping space.
Country inn with good food and also dog-friendly B&B rooms. It's just under 4 miles from the A1 and a welcome bolt-hole if you want to escape the traffic for a while.
Ideally placed for walks in the area, the Dyke Neuk is a traditional and family-owned pub where you'll get a typical Northumbrian welcome - and great home-cooked food.
