A former drovers' inn that dates back to the 13th century, and that seems totally incredible. But it's still providing hungry travellers with great food and a warm welcome.

We really enjoyed the walk here and especially the sound of the waves rippling across the surface of the reservoir.

Excellent dog walking woodland, and every car in the car park had an enthusiastic dog on board. The pup loved it here and happily dived from woodland to river and around again.
A quiet backwater by the canal where dogs can run free on the towpath. The dog-friendly pub is currently open only at weekends.

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go. It looks like a film set from a dystopian future which is marvellous for a pensive sort of dog walk.
