Rievaulx Abbey dog-friendly visit, North Yorkshire
Yorkshire might have more stunning ruins than any other county, and this is way up there in the ruin league. And dog-friendly.

Real Ale pub fond of walkers, close to Mow Cop Castle. Dogs always welcome! It's my local and my Meggie takes me there most Sunday's!
Just off Gargrave Road there is free parking for around 8 cars. Directly in front of you is Aireville Park where dogs can run around off lead.
Long, thin park that follows the river along its valley. It's not small - there's about 120 acres here. Lots of local dogwalkers are here, and Benji had a great time making new friends.
The Dukes Head Pub is dog friendly and has parking.
Lovely sandy blue-flag beach where dogs are allowed all year. They do have to be on leads.
An impressive view over Belfast Lough awaits from the top of the escarpment, definitely worth the climb on a clear day.
A 4 acre private enclosed dog field just one minute from junction 16 of A1(M), ten mins from A14. High fences. With obstacles, shelter, picnic bench, dog toys, water and poo bags.
A choice of either a fully-accessible and traffic free pathway by the beach or a yomp into the hills with the dog.
A long sandy beach. A notice by the car park requests that dogs are kept on a lead because of sheep grazing on the land nearby.
Circular walk with sculpture park, or walk directly to the bottom for a canal walk
Short walk from Westport Quays, but gives a fabulous view of Croagh Patrick and can be combined with walk around Wesport House grounds and woods.
