The mix of woodland and common is a large open space with plenty of room for dogs to let off steam.
Walk through pine trees and lots of sand down to the water. Dogs and horses go down there.
Dogs OK on this lovely sandy beach all year round - can get crowded in high season.

We set off from our pub base in Wells to find the sea and walked to Holkham Estate and back across the endless sands and dunes.

This Country Park between Manchester and Bolton is a haven of calm even though it's so close to the motorway. On the day we visited the air was pungent with the scent of wild flowers.
This Country Park is a much bigger space than it seems at first, and there is plenty of choice of dog-walking routes. The park is midway between Junctions 2 and 4.
A walk near Ashbourne in one of the most picturesque and scenic of the Derbyshire Dales, best enjoyed on a quiet weekday. The iconic stepping stones are such fun with dogs.
