This Country Park between Manchester and Bolton is a haven of calm even though it's so close to the motorway. On the day we visited the air was pungent with the scent of wild flowers.
With 600 acres of parkland, Heaton Park is a massively popular open space for Mancunians, and their dogs. You can get here easily from several M60 junctions, and also the M62.
There's good gentle walking here over a pleasant mix of grass and woodland with plenty of space for dogs to really enjoy themselves. A handy walk to know about if you're visiting Manchester.
This is a gem of a walk, for dogs and people alike and well worth visiting regularly for those who are lucky enough to live nearby.
This is a wonderful dog walking park, and the wildness of the park surprises too, given that it lies so close to Manchester and in the middle of a tangle of different motorways.
Dogs will definitely appreciate the 90 acre Memorial Park here, which is cut through by a number of trails including the Fred Perry Way and the Valley Way.
