Busy but lovely walk

We arrived here on a very warm and Friday lunch time (1pm). Having driven up from Sussex (with a stop off in the A6). It was busy with tourists. But there was parking (£4) toilets and a coffee bar. Brilliant for our young Vizsla to let off steam and have a run. We kept him on the lead around the early part of the walk and then let him off lead. It was a perfect 1 hr stop off point and allowed us to eat a sandwich, have a cuppa etc. Big plus is that the walk is a made footpath so the dogs keep clean. Would recommend.

Favourite local walk

Beautiful at all times of the year. We walk over from Dunkeld or Birnam village: a nice walk with a short stretch on A9 just as you get to the entrance of the Hermitage, but otherwise, Fiddlers walk and quiet streets. Travellers best to just park at the site. Breathtaking views of the Braan, and whole walk there is under a canopy of trees, so it is beautifully shaded in summer.

Lovely riverside/woodland walk full of surprises

A great stop-off from the northbound A9. The car park is well signed from the road - parking is £3 (cash only, no change) but if you find yourself short people will pass on their ticket as they leave...

There are a number of choices for a walk, ranging from a 20-min there-and-back to a couple of hours. We took the 45 minute option, which was well signed, and followed the river to an amazing hall/folly with a viewing platform over the falls and some inspirational poetry depicted on the walls. A great, easy but varied walk to break up a long journey.
