Old Moor Woods dog walk, Nottinghamshire
Description
Owned and managed by the Woodland Trust, this gorgeous woods is a must visit! Located near Strelley Hall, it is massively popular in spring when it's blanketed in English & Spanish bluebells.
Details
You can park in Strelley Hall but the expectation is that you use the cafe or shop (be a customer). If you go in the cafe, you can take your dog in with you. Otherwise its street parking. It's a fairly thin road but there is plenty of parking. Please note, this area is VERY popular, especially in the summer / weekends so take this into consideration when visiting.
Walk
You will have to cross the M1 bridge so take this into consideration if your dog is nervous or noise sensitive. There are also fields with horses, they largely ignore everyone but you might find a delightful pile of poop here and there en route.
There aren't many bins around and at the entrance to the lane, I have seen some flytipping / dumping which is disappointing but the woods itself tend to be pristine. You can google the trail or wing it when you go. The woods is generally a circular trail but with paths leading off. There is also a field which the trail goes through. It doesn't have the best drainage so if it has been raining, you can get a bit boggy.
If you go during the spring, take your camera. Plenty of places for posing pics. And the bluebells are breathtaking.
