Extra info from M McCabe:
Bradwell-on-Sea, there is a lovely country walk which is nature reserve, car park available, adjacent to Bradwell Power Station. Leads to several miles of beach covered in Cockle shells. The beach also incorporates St Peter's On The Wall, one of Britain's oldest multi denominational churches.
Many dog walkers assemble at high tide on most week days, as the beach is fairly quiet. With views across to Mersey Nr Colchester.
Weekends tend to be fairly busy with sun worshippers and sailors. Although dogs are still allowed on the beaches, as long as they are kept under control.
