The renaissance town of Pézenas is an absolute gem, and a wander through the narrow streets here is a definite driver reviver. Dogs do draw the short straw as it's all on-lead - but the town is amazingly dog friendly and many shops have water bowls outside and polite resident pooches inside.

The approach to the Old Town gives you absolutely no clue how fabulous the place is, and we seriously thought that we'd been badly misled by glowing write-ups. But no, it's even better than can easily be described.  Just imagine you're in a film set for Romeo and Juliet!
