This is a longish (but mainly flat) 5.5mile circular walk with a refreshment stop if required at the cafe in Lotherton Hall. Park on Main Street near the pub and walk south through the village for about 1.6km until you come to a junction with the B1217. At this junction cross over and turn left. Walk for about 600m going under the A1(M) bridges. Just after the second bridges turn right up a track. Follow this track and after it bends to the left and passes an electricity pylon keep going for a further 500m where you will see a footpath sign to your right. Do not take this right turn but continue for a further 600m. At this point turn left into Ringhay Wood following the sign to Lotherton Hall. After about 400m you exit the wood and walk up the edge of a field for about 500m until you enter the grounds of Lotherton Hall. Keep walking through the grounds for about 500m and the cafe is in a courtyard to your left. Dogs are not allowed in the cafe but are welcome at the outside tables. On leaving the cafe courtyard turn left and carry on walking in the same direction as before you entered the cafe. After about 250m you will come to the exit of Lotherton Hall. Turn left but be caerful as there are no footpaths and often alot of traffic. After 200m you come to a junction with the B1217. Turn left and cross over so that you are walkinh on the grass verge. After about 300m turn left at a footpath sign down a track. This is an ancient earthwork known as The Rein. Continue down this track for about 700m until you come to a tarmac farm track. Go straight across the track walk down the edge of a field with a hedge on your left. After a further 700m turn left through a gap in the hedge. Be careful not to miss this turn which is marked with some yellow tape on a tree branch. Walk through the hegde for about 20m to a low fence/stile. Once over the stile continue straight across the field fro about 175m. Turn left onto the grass strip between the field crossed and the adjacent field. Walk for about 400m until you come to a junction with a tarmac road. Turn tight at this junction and walk for about 250m. At this junction walk left until you come to a junction with a main road. Turn right at this junction (walking under the A1 (M)) and continue to walk for a about 400m. You will arrive back in Aberford on Main Street. Turn right at the junction and retrace you steps back along Main Street for about 600m back to your start point.
