A short dog walk just off the A9 between Dornoch and Golspie, Scotland

Description

This is a lovely forest walk about 1 1/2 miles long through varied terrain with magnificent views in parts. If you have children with you, there are many wooden creatures along the way for the children to spot. The path is well signed and there are Forestry Commission leaflets at the start of the walk to help you and to give information of other forest walks in Scotland.

GPS coords for car park: 57.9203, -4.0617 What3Words: ///chop.says.positives  About a mile after the Dornoch turn off on the A9 you will see a brown sign on the right for Skelbo Forest Walk. Turn down this road and then turn left into the car park at the Forestry Commission sign. There is a picnic table at the car park.

Walk

 Follow the trail of carved wooden animals through this lovely wood, 3 miles north of Dornoch. Pass the pond and picnic area as you walk through Scots Pine woodland towards Skelbo Burn. During this walk you will also see the remains of a 2000 year old Broch, as well as enjoy great sea views and beautiful wildflowers in summer.
