Dogs have increased in population during the pandemic, and they now play a big part of our lives. As we're inching closer and closer to summer, and after the past year we've all had, we're so ready to go on a beach holiday.
The British weather can be unpredictable, we may have glorious weather one minute, heavy rain the next but nothing puts a dampener on us Brits. There's one thing we do love when the sun is beaming – head to the beach (and fish and chips and a sausage for the pup!)
Not all UK beaches allow us to bring our four legged buddies, but with so many amazing beaches to choose from, iwantoneofthose.com have conducted a study on the most 'Instagrammable' dog-friendly beaches. The results are in and here are the UK's top 10 most instaworthy dog-friendly beaches.
10. Lossiemouth East, Grampian - 49,593
Coming in at number ten 10 is Lossiemouth East, Grampian. Accessed by a wooden footbridge over the River Lossie, this bridge has become popular on the 'gram. There's plenty of shade across the sand dunes and a long beach to get your steps in, perfect for your dog to release some energy.
9. Belhaven (Dunbar), Lothian - 49,747
With 49,747 photos on Instagram, Belhaven beah, Lothian comes ninth place. This wide sandy beach gives spectacular views across the Forth Estuary, and dogs are allowed on this beach all year round.
8. Findhorn, Grampian - 50,111
The stunning Findhorn beach in Grampian comes in at eighth place. If you love wildlife and watersports, this beach is for you. You can walk for miles when the tide is low, and the great thing about this beach is it's push chair and dog friendly meaning fun for all the family.
7. Gourock Bay, Strathclyde - 56,052
With magnificent views of the upper Firth of Clyde, Gourock Bay takes seventh place with 56,052 tagged photos on Instagram. The beautiful surrounding mountainous peninsulas makes it impossible to not stop for a photo.
6. Bally Castle, County Antrim - 67,433
Situated on the Causeway Coastal Route on the Antrim Coast, Bally Castle beach comes sixth. This beach is popular with tourists and certainly popular with dogs as there's plenty of shade and space to run.
5. Crosby (Hall Road West), Merseyside - 70,631
Taking fifth spot as UK's most 'Instagrammable' dog-friendly beach is Crosby, Merseyside with 70,631 tagged photos. Enjoy the views across the Wirral hills and North Wales, and look out for 100 cast iron naked sculptures by Antony Gormley for an instaworthy photo opportunity with you dog.
4. Moreton, Merseyside - 72,278
On the Wirral Peninsula is Moreton, Merseyside. This beach mainly consists of shingles at high tide but some areas turn into wide sandy beach during low tide. The huge open spaces allow both dogs and children to be able to run until their hearts content.
3. Dalmore Beach, Hebrides - 76,721
With 76,721 posts, Dalmore beach in Hebrides Scotland takes third spot. Facing out to the North West, the waves crashing in from the Atlantic are equally as spectacular as the beach itself. Perfect place for a paddle and surf!
2. Lytham St Anne's, Lancashire - 81,306
Second place goes to Lytham St Anne's, Lancashire. This sandy beach stretches all the way up to Blackpool, with miles of sand to walk and play on this beach will sure be a big hit for you and your pooch.
1. West Kirby, Merseyside - 117,416
Coming in first place and claiming title of UK's most 'instagrammable' dog-friendly beaches is West Kirby, Merseyside which has been tagged in 117,416 posts. Offering views of Dee Estuary this beach is only 300 metres long, but has proven popular across Instagram.

Methodology The team at IWOOT built a list of over 100 dog-friendly beaches across the UK. Then looked at the number of photos posted on Instagram that feature the name of the beach in a hashtag, as well as associated hashtags (e.g. #westkirbybeach #westkirbybay #westkirbyprom etc.) The numbers were then combined to get the total, before cutting down to the top 10 most 'Instagrammable' dog-friendly beach in UK.
