Our dog has her 4th birthday this month, and it's time to dig up those recipes for yummy canine cake! Effi loves both these cakes and the Sweet Potato and Pumpkin Cake is ideal for using up any left over Halloween pumpkins.
Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Cake
Ingredients
225g whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
60g natural peanut butter - check that this is petsafe and with no xylitol
60ml unsweetened applesauce / grated eating apple
1 ripe banana, mashed
60ml vegetable oil
60ml honey
1 egg
Optional: Dog-friendly frosting (like plain yogurt or mashed sweet potato)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan-assisted) or 200°C (standard). Grease a small cake pan or muffin tin.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour and baking soda.
In a separate bowl, combine peanut butter, applesauce, banana, vegetable oil, honey, and egg. Mix well.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan or muffin tin.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely before frosting with the dog-friendly frosting.
