A well-planned system of criss-crossing paths make the most of the 110 acres of land in this park, and it's a delightful place to visit with lots of variety and points of interest.

This Country Park between Manchester and Bolton is a haven of calm even though it's so close to the motorway. On the day we visited the air was pungent with the scent of wild flowers.
With 600 acres of parkland, Heaton Park is a massively popular open space for Mancunians, and their dogs. You can get here easily from several M60 junctions, and also the M62.
There is plenty to do here for families, and it's clearly a favourite venue in the school holidays. There is also a 'quiet' route option for dogs in need of time out.
Genuine, nice and dog-friendly inn with plenty of history behind it. We thought the meals were great value, and definitely recommend their Fish Fridays. Easy to get to from the M6/20 and the A56 too
