The atmospheric ruins of the Château Châlucet make a perfect dog walk and an interesting and varied break from driving, and are well worth a longer visit if you're staying in the area.
Very remote Forestry Commission plantation. There are no stiles, and few people around.
A short walk on hard-surfaced paths to reach a fabulous view over the Itchen Valley. It's close to the M3 too.
Dogs allowed on the beach, France Sainte Cecile is a popular summer resort with plenty going on in season.
Visitors flock to Haworth for the Railway Children steam train, and the parsonage where the Bronte sisters lived.
A very easy walk with great views over the Channel.
A splendid sandy beach that is really close to St Malo. We found it an ideal place to give the dogs a good run when you arrive from the ferry in the early morning.
This is a walk for the dog, with different options for curious people too.
We were charmed by this pretty town with a delightful dog walk by the side of a shallow, twinkling stream and a 15th century dog-friendly pub for refreshments at the start of the walk.
We love the easy off-lead dog walk here, and the 16th century pub has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Amazing when you read about its lurid background of smuggling and derring-do!
The woodland walk here will delight the dogs, and it's a pity the pub is only open for lunch at weekends.
