Full Walk Details

Walk away from North Lonsdale Road and onto the track leading into woods. Dogs can be let off here if you are confident of their return! After 100m the tarmac runs out and the next bit can be really muddy in winter or after rain - if this is the case you can park at The Bay Horse at canal foot and access the canal there.

Follow the path around the pig enclosure and cross the rolling canal bridge. There is a display board explaining how the rolling bridge works on the far side.

The entire canal is only 1.25 miles long and at this point you are roughly half-way along. You can either turn left towards canal head, Ulverston town and the A590, or going right will lead you towards canal foot, the estuary and The Bay Horse.
