Description

Westwood Country Park is still something of a secret to all except dog-walkers, locals and anglers. The dog will be delighted!   There are no facilities here, just a dog walk.

GPS coords for parking: 53.4836, -1.4887  WC and refreshments available at MacDonalds, on the second to last roundabout before the motorway (you'll need to go all the way round). Also Costa and a fuel station. Parking:  informal and limited parking on the lane by a small bridge and a Bridleway sign.

Full Walk Details

There are no signed trails here, but it's easy to create your own circular walk over the heath and woodland.   We followed a footpath sign just inside the gate by the parking bay, and then went up the hill and followed a fence until we saw a lake further away on the right.  This seems to be a fishing lake, so we avoided that and took a path away from it and into the woodland, gently curving to the left to walk through the trees back to the car.   There's a lot more woodland if you want a longer walk.
