Full Walk Details
There's no possibility of losing your bearing on the vast open flood plain of the River Trent. If you've parked at the Lord Nelson, turn right from the car park onto Main Street and then turn right onto Far Holme Lane. Turn left at an obvious pathway, and you're on the plain. There's another access point from Church Lane. Walk past the church, and pass the primary school on your left. Look out for the footpath sign on the right before a farm. Follow the clear track as far as the river. It's a good idea to keep dogs out of the channel before the river proper as the water has a very distinctive and unpleasant odour! Water-loving dogs should be kept away from the river, the current can be strong especially a few days after heavy rain. This walk is accessible to wheelchairs and buggies.
