Stratford-upon-Avon Doggie Lido, Warwickshire
CV37 0NS
Description
If your dog loves to swim and splash, this is a great place to come in the summer. The bend on the River Avon was, once upon a time, a natural open-air lido for the residents of Stratford. It had diving boards, entertainments and all sorts of stuff going on. The diving boards have long since gone and Stratford folk swim in a nice, new leisure centre ... leaving the banks of the Avon for the dogs and the odd wild swimmer.

Full Walk Details
As well as the swimming, there's a riverside path and plenty of space for wet dogs to hurtle around and dry off. Note: there are still a few bits of metal left in the water from the former diving platforms, but you can easily see where they are. Narrow boats from Stratford come this way too - and in the summer the 'skippers' can often be getting to grips with the steering for the first time so keep an ear out for the sound of a chugging diesel engine and make sure your dog is safely out of the way! More dog walks from Stratford-upon-Avon and nearby are in our book - Walks in Shakespeare Country. The walks are specially designed for dog walkers and all start from a dog-friendly pub.
