Roecliffe River Walk with the dog, North Yorkshire
YO51 9LY
Description
Dogs will enjoy the mix of fields and river path on this very rural footpath. It can get very sploshy in wet weather - be warned! Sadly the very dog-friendly pub has now closed which makes this more of a doggie pitstop now.
Full Walk Details
The walk starts at the public footpath sign to the right of the church. Follow the path parallel to the church yard, and through a wooden gate. Bear half right in a small farmyard to go through a metal gate into a field, and follow the direction of the yellow footpath arrow here. Watch out for sheep in this field. The path leads downhill to the bank of the River Ure, where you turn to walk with the river to your right. From here on the path stays by the river and passes through fields with crops. The easiest place for dogs to access the water is in the third field where there is a clear view of the bank and river. As this is a there-and-back walk, it is possible to turn round at any point. We walked as far as the large pylon, which took almost 30 minutes in total. Walk length: 25-50 minutes. Wellies/boots needed in wet weather
