Glen Nant dog walk, Scotland
PA35 1JG
Description
A deeply satisfying trail through woodland that was once managed to supply charcoal for the nearby Bonawe Iron Furnace. Now the slopes are rich in wildlife, and with lots of scents to impress the hound. Definitely a great place for a dog walk, and although it's only a few miles from the A85 you really feel that you're in the middle of nowhere. The Iron Furnace is now a tourist attraction, and is worth a visit.

One waymarked trail (red posts) starts from the car park and is an easy access trail that runs beside the little river. The 'Ant Trail' is a well signed circular route through the woodland, and ideal for dogs to run happily off lead. It's a good family walk too, with pull out signs for curious kids (and adults) explaining some of the background to the area. The ant hills are big, and worth looking out for - if only to make sure you don't sit on one! You'll find benches at the viewpoints. Jem loved it here, and it's a great place for a dog walk.
