Full Walk Details

Circular walk - 2 miles and approximately 50 minutes.  Turn right onto Ditton Green and follow the road until you see a water tower on the right. Turn right here onto a signed track known as Danes Bottom. The track does a wiggle around the site of Camois Hall. This was demolished in the 1960s by the local council, but had dated back to a Lord de Camois who had fought with Henry V at Agincourt. There's nothing to see now. Stick to the Bridleway and when you reach a T-junction, keep ahead so that you're walking forward in the same direction.  At the end of the field on your left take the path that also acts as a field boundary. (approx 20 minutes to here from the water tower). Dane Bottom is the field on your right. This will bring you to the Devil's Ditch, known these days as the Stour Valley Path.  To return to the pub, turn left. This will bring you back to the road, a few yards along from the water tower.   Extension 4.5 miles and approx 2 hours  To extend the walk, turn right at the Devils Ditch and walk to the side of the Stetchworth Park Stud.  Reach a country lane down a flight of wooden steps (you can slither down to the side of these if your dog struggles) and take the signed Devils Ditch path ahead. There's a dog bin here. The path continues in a dead straight line as far as a B-road and it's best to turn round before you actually reach the gate to the road as there's nowhere to go after this and the road has no pavement.  Beyond the road it all starts to get very horsey.  Return the way you came, but after the stud farm stay on the Devils Ditch path and back to the water tower.
