Broadway dog walk - long, Worcestershire
WR12 7LB
Description
This is a lovely 5 mile / 2 hour walk - ideal for a visit to Broadway as there's plenty to do and see after your walk too. The walk has around 9 stiles, mostly quite easy for dogs to manage. The path runs through woodland with lovely big tree roots on the path, open fields & pasture. Expect to encounter some cows and horses, and do be aware that this is sheep-grazing country. The popular little town of Broadway is generally dog friendly, some shops allow dogs inside, but ask first. Some pubs also allow dogs inside.
It's a great place to spend a day walking with great views far and wide, and lovely shops and sunny buildings a gem of the Cotswolds!
Details

Full Walk Details
Walk down from the old road at the top of Broadway (old road to Fish Hill) towards the High Street. Turn right, which is signposted to the Toilets, Children's Park and the fire station. Follow the public footpath through a kissing gate, across the field (may be sheep). You will be heading towards a stone barn. On the left of the barn is a stile, go over the stile and into an often boggy field. This takes you through a boggy patch, keep to the path and over a 2nd stile into an open field. Go diagonal. Keep to the path which takes you through three more fields (the second field has some fancy horse jumps).
In the third field go through a gate on the right into a coppice. Do not turn right down the coppice, but straight across a track to a gate ahead (may be sheep). Slant uphill, towards & passing a bungalow. Go past the bungalow and keep to the left. Join the tarmac road and carry on up hill passing a farm on the left. Continue, whilst looking for a kissing gate on your left and cross the field diagonally into Broadway Tower County Park (car park). The Barn Café or Restaurant is a great place to stop for a cup of tea and a cake (dog friendly inside and outside). Head towards the Tower (keeping dogs on leads). Go through big kissing gate into the field where the Tower stands, with the Tower on your left go through another big gate and then a smaller gate directly in front into the field (may be sheep).
Follow the foot path with a stone wall on your right until you see another kissing gate. Go through this and keep on the foot path. You will meet a tractor track, turn left then right onto the Cotswolds Way - signed with the Acorn marker. Keep straight until you get to a metal gate among trees. At the next marker bear right, (dogs on leads) as you will hear and see the main road on your left (Fish Hill). There are no fences so dogs can go onto the road if not on a lead! You will be walking parallel with the road. A barn conversion is on your right and the old Toll House is on your left. You will now be walking on a tarmac road passing Broadway Quarry. You will soon meet Fish Hill at the end of this side road.
Cross the road (take care as its a busy road) and keep following the Cotswolds Way signs into Fish Hill picnic site (there are WCs here). Once in the picnic site, head left up towards the steps and a trig point. Follow the Limestone Trail sign to the wood in front of you. There is a dry stone wall on your right with Fish Hill road on your left. Go into the wood on your right, follow sign post. Bear left down some steps to a hollow. Go right and along the path up some steps. At the top keep right on to the path which will eventually descend down by steps and a path to the road. Go through the stile onto the road and turn left downhill. When the road forks to the left and right you will see a metal fence, stile and bench in front of you. Go over the stile and walk directly down the hill as sign posted 'Broadway'.
Descend through pastures (may be cows & horses) over a stile. Keep to the path (this can be muddy). The path bends left which takes you under the main road. Over a stile on your right then another on your left and then you have returned to where you started.
