Ashdown Forest dog walks near Duddleswell, East Sussex
TN22 3JA
Description
There are numerous entrances to this amazing Forest so worth visiting the main Ashdown Forest website for alternatives. An area of free public access over 6,400 acres of the High Weald crossing the Sussex / Kent borders the remains of the Lancaster Great Park originally set aside for hunting deer which can still be seen in the area in good numbers. It also has commoners rights that are exercised so you will see sheep and cattle on the grounds at various times of the year. A very popular dog walking area. Duddleswell is a great venue a real find and great for pupsters to explore!
There is an internationally important population of rare birds which nest within the heather so please keep your dogs on the paths during the nesting season (March to September). There are a number of ponds and streams which are home to many rare insects and amphibians, so please do not allow your dogs in the water.
And perhaps most importantly of all, please clean up after your pet! Dog mess can cause serious infections to people and other animals, it changes the chemistry of Forest soils and spoils the surroundings for everyone else.
The Forest is the Famous home of Winnie the Pooh, Pooh Bridge! Pooh sticks anyone?!! Ideal if you fancy a more scenic route from Sussex to London.
