Village pub and shop near Rothbury, Northumberland
NE65 7DG
Description
A traditional village inn with a warm welcome and a courtyard sun-trap. You can't miss the monument on the left, as ugly and sincere as only Victorian monuments can be. This one honours a Mrs Clemmel for her charitable work in the 1800s.
Details
On-street parking. Village shop operates from the pub and new owners are extending the opening hours and have already refurbished for 2024.
Full Walk Details
A popular walking route is between Alwinton and Harbottle but we didn't find this to be particularly dog-friendly. You're much better off driving the short distance to Harbottle Wood and enjoying a woodland walk there, or heading up to the Drake Stone. Details on a separate page.
