Set in the attractive village of Dufton, near Appleby-in-Westmorland, The Stag Inn is a popular traditional country pub, welcoming walkers and dogs alike as it stands on the route of the Pennine Way and is the perfect start and end point for walking High Cup Nick. With friendly hospitality, good beer and a small but tasty menu.
Details
Built in 1703, The Stag features solid oak beams and exposed stone work. A large cast-iron range warms the main bar, with an open fire in the smaller lounge. There's a beer garden - perfect for warmer summer months. Great choice of beers including Black Sheep, Castle Eden and Flowers IPA. The Stag is recognised by CAMRA and appears in the Good Beer Guide. Quiz night held every other Thursday - ring to check dates. Beer Festival held every August. Accommodation available. Plenty of unrestricted car parking on the large village green immediately outside the pub.
