The Swan Inn, Great Shefford

Length of walk: 40-50 minutes
Leave the car park and cross the road to bear right into Church Street. Walk up to the church, turning right onto the gravel approach to St Mary's. Follow the track round to the right passing the churchyard, and over the river to turn left before an abandoned building. Walk on the clear wide track along the right side of the River Lambourn as far as a farm track. Turn left onto the track and walk down to turn left at the first yellow public footpath arrow. Cross the field, heading for a stile in the corner by a mock Tudor house. Climb the stile and walk with a garden fence to your right and then across the next field towards the church. Follow the path parallel to the churchyard to a kissing gate, which brings you back onto the gravel track where you started the walk. Turn right, and then walk down Church Street to return to the Swan Inn.
Facilities
At the Swan Inn. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the public bar and the riverside terrace (which is covered). Dog water provided. We arrived here as lunch was being prepared, and the smell of the food was wonderful.
